Road and bycicle-path to the island
Constance. The Reichenau is well known for the vegetables grown there and for its churches. The island is part of the World Heritage of the UNESCO. The UNESCO writes about its churches:
The churches of St Mary and Marcus, St Peter and St Paul, and St George, mainly built between the 9th and 11th centuries, provide a panorama of early medieval monastic architecture in central Europe. Their wall paintings bear witness to impressive artistic activity.

The Reichenau is best explored by bike. An alternative are busses from Constance and during the tourist season ships. More information about how to get to the Reichenau with public transport, you get here. If you go there by bike from Constance, follow the bike route on the left side of the rails. When you reach the station "Reichenau", turn left and you will soon reach a big crossing, where the beautiful causeway begins which links the island Reichenau to the land.

In summer vegetables are sold outside in many places on the island. But if your are more interested in eating fresh fish, one tip for you: If you are on the island by bike, keep on the right side, near the lake. Then you pass a small outdoor Fish-restaurant, the "offene Fischküche bei Riebels" (Seestraße/Reichenau). It's not expensive, but the fish is good. The restaurant closes in the evening and you sit outside. There are many "classical" restaurants on the Reichenau as well. An overview, you find here (German).
